North Bay is recognized as the Gateway to the North. Incorporated as a city in August 1925, North Bay is located at the junction of Highway 11 and the TransCanada Highway 17. The hub of Ontario’s Near North, North Bay has a population of more than 52,000 and offers a quality of life that is treasured by residents. North Bay is a growing city nestled between two magnificent lakes - Lake Nipissing and Trout Lake.
North Bay offers Lake Nipissing, a large shallow lake with its numerous sandy beaches, windswept pines, secret inlets, beautiful bays and vivid islands. One group in particular called the Manitou’s – a group of islands some claim are watched over by native spirits. Trout Lake, the deep, Northern Lake is just the thing for canoeing, water skiing, or snagging small and large mouth bass. North Bay also offers great hiking and walking trails with breath taking views of both Lake Nipissing and Trout Lake, bustling streets downtown Main Street with unique stores and shops, an amazing board walk with a stunning view, several historic museums galleries and theater groups, plenty of restaurants ranging from fast food to fine dinning and several hotels, motels and lakeside cottages to accommodate visitors.
In addition to the natural attractions of the area, North Bay also has a number of festivals, parades, special occasions and activities that take place throughout the summer months.
